Your car COULD have been lowered, but keep in mind that jacks have
different resting heights. I have one that clears by over a 1/2" with the
2x4 on it, and another that misses by the same amount.

A trick I used on my Miata which is lower yet, is to put a couple of scrap
2x6's just in front of the wheels on the end of the car that you want to
jack up. Drive the car up on 'em then your jack should fit under the frame
with no problems.
