Yeah, see, I'm not so sure that would be a good idea. The fading adds
a lot to the display in terms of choreography. If the lights were just
flashing on and off, I don't think that'd be as cool.

In fact, that's why I asked Dave about the behavior of his LED third
brake light. I'd like to do this color organ thing on my car - I think
it'd be fun - but I've been wanting to switch to all LEDs and I was
hoping the system would actually fade the LEDs like it does the
incandescents. Apparently, it doesn't?
