I don't know if you can find this in the internet.  But in 1975?   a 
paper was presented at the SAE conference titled

"Is 150 mpg possible."  There were a lot of papers on this subject 
published back then?  Hmm? Why aren't  we conducting the same research 
today.?

This paper contained a great graph showing the HP to overcome friction 
due to drive train and wheel  versus HP required to over come air 
resistance by vehicle speed.   Very interesting stuff.

In answer to you question.  Around 50 mph  you need 13 HP to drive the 
vehicle if it is air dynamic (around o.3 drag coefficient) and have 
tires around 35 psi.
