[DMCForum] Re: Eagle Premier PRV.

Robert I'm currently in the midst of swapping over to the eagle engine
(hence, all my DeLorean ECU's on e-bay).  Steve S. has a lot of
documentation on his result (www.projectdelorean.com).  His is running
using the Electromotive TEC3 system.  There's another guy who did it,
and John Lane did all of his work; also using the Electromotive system
(TEC2). That link is
(http://home.comcast.net/~shirazcupala/delorean/tech_pictures.htm)

Both of those swaps, and my swap, is using the later style, 91-92
eagle premier engine.  Don't be fooled by the earlier engine's
distributor.  It still uses a magnetic crank trigger on the flywheel
just as the later models do, but don't ask me why or how that all
works together.  That item alone is the biggest hurdle in the swap.
You can get around it several ways.  Megasquirt could run the engine
fairly easily, and you could use the Ford EDIS system for spark (there
is megasquirt code available specifically for this system).  You could
go Electromotive, SDS, Haltech, etc, or you could cut off the trigger
ring from the flexplate and bolt it to the DeLorean flywheel and use
the stock ECU (what I'm doing).

Can't beat the cheapness of using the engine, though.  I got my 1991
version with 35,000 miles for $350.  Bought the whole wiring harness
with the engine computer for $50.
