Well...I did attempt to measure the resistance of the old and new
wires.

This is where I'm confused and I'm trying to read up on it:

The old wire read 1,361 ohms. The new wire read much much higher (I
forget right now)...something like 61k ohms...it was nearly off the
scale.

I thought -less- resistance was better? John Hervey sells 8mm, 350
ohm/ft hand made wires. S'plain this one to me?
