[DMCForum] Hi-Performance speaker wire.

I will agree that it would be hard to tell the
difference between some high cost OFC monster speaker
cable and 30A solid core electrical wire.  However,
when most people use the 22Gage zip cord that comes
with a set of speakers, Monster is a significant
improvement.

Although, when I was thinking about your comments I
thought you were referring to the line-level audio
cables that are so expensive.  Especially having been
a professional home theater installer for the past
year, I have fix many noise and audio (and video)
problems by replacing the line level cables with the
better quality "monster" type.

Last time I *TOOK* a challenge like this, I lost..
When I worked for a high-end audio store back in 1988,
A factory rep that was selling the store a new line of
speakers told us that we should recommend that our
customers "Bi-Wire" the speakers!  I laughed at him,
saying that Bi-Amplification was why the engineers had
a dual input crossover.  Well, he challenged me to a
A/B comparison, and even allowed ME to wire it all up.
 Holy crap, he was right!  The bi-wired speaker
sounded better.  His eexplanationwas the EMF generated
by the moving woofer aactuallydistorted the tweeter. 
By using the Bi-Wire method, the reverse EMF from the
woofer could not get back in to the tweeter.

Then there was the time I challenged a AT&T electrical
engineer I was working with who claimed that because
Audio was AC, there was no polarity and therefore you
could hook up speakers either way with no impact on
audio quality.  I set up a little demo that reversed
the polarity of one speaker when he flipped a switch. 
That one, I won. :)
