I have to disagree with you there... I have found that nylon washers need to
be replaced often.  A hint on the copper/aluminum washers is to turn it over
every time you change the oil.  I like to replace it whenever I change the
oil if available cause they are cheap.

I have never changed my Copper washer and it never leaked and I did 
plenty of Oil Changes.

Nylon is the way to go, it never needs to be changed.
