[DML] Re: Treatment of Newbies (was: Leaving The Group)

Yup. I'm with Louie.

Every time a new person asks about whether they should replace their
door struts or tighten their torsion bar, or asks how to fix eyebrows,
I'm happy.

The new people are living the dream. They are adding value with their
repetitive questions.

They have no idea that they are the 400th person to ask these
questions, and expect to be treatly nicely, rightfully so.

Anybody who treats them harshly for anything short of a direct attack
(which probably won't make it past the moderators, who do a very fine
job given the workload and the non-pay) is subtracting value from the
list.

When I was new, I was treated harshly by a rude long-time Delorean
owner. If he and I were the last Delorean owners alive, I'd sell the
car for $1 rather than be associated with him. I would hate to be
guilty of treating some other newbie similarly.
