RE: [DML] Re: Front Strut Bar

You can?t! Just make sure you have a 17mm ratchet in with your jack etc so
that if you get a puncture you can get to it. I am guessing this is why the
stock DMC didn?t have something like it installed.

I bought one of Peter?s strut brace?s. I think the difference in handling
is noticeably better without falling for the ?placebo effect?. It
definitely makes the car more rigid and stops it flexing in the bends (I
have lots of circles/roundabouts where I live in Milton Keynes) so I can
feel the much tighter handling. The aluminium strut brace can be unbolted
and removed if so desired. I have covered it in a hard wearing black foam
to help it blend in with the black carpet of the luggage compartment. This
also stops it being scratched by luggage contents and also provides a
cushion between it and luggage items.

My car didn?t have a backboard below the carpet when I bought it which is
why you can see an impression in the carpet from the spare wheel. I have
since made a backing board, I guess it will tale a while for the carpet to
settle flat again!

You can see the foam helping the strut brace to blend in here:-

I'm all for innovation, but how do you get the spare tire out with
this bar across it?
