The general convention when giving directions, left, right, front,
back, is referenced from a person sitting in the driver's seat facing
foward. Therefore to find the temperature sending unit when I say the
front of the motor on the right side I mean the end of the motor next
to the firewall on the side of the motor by the coil cover. You have
to look over the top and down the front to find it. There should be 1
wire going to it. A quick and "dirty" test is to remove the wire and
the gauge should read "cold". Now have someone touch the wire to
ground for 1-2 seconds. The gauge should move over toward "hot". If
the gauge never moves there is a problem with the wiring to the gauge
or possibly even the gauge itself. Don't forget to try this with the
ignition key on. Front is facing front of car to directly answer your
question.
