Yep - this is more-or-less normal, although you are supposed to be 
able to have the door open a litle longer than ten seconds. But parts 
are aging etc. etc. "Your mileage may vary" as they say.

There was a modification "invented" a long time ago - it's in one of 
the old DWorlds. The Mod was supposed to make it act "normal" i.e. 
the delay in turning off was always the same no matter how long the 
door was open (like in many other cars). If I recall correctly the mod used a timer chip instead of an RC circuit to set the delay time.
