Re: [doc] Pulley Nut Help

Oh yes I remember this job...

I replace the seal behind that pulley on Smokey... the loctight is the big problem... I used a 3/4 drive and then got a metre lenth of pipe to put over it (not on my snap-on tools!!!), with a hell of a pull, the nut came undone....  but It`s damn tight.

good luck

Alan and Smokey

This sounds a bit extream Rich! mind you in my frame of mind last
night C4 plastic explosive was looking like a good idea.
A friend of mind who is a mechanic poped round today.
The nut even resisted him. I am going round to his workshop tommorow
to pick up a large 3/4 drive Mega rachet which is about 1 meter long.
This coupled with a massive pair of stilson's on the pulley and
heating the nut up with a top of the line propane mix torch.
The pulley is probably going to get trashed although we will wrap
rag round it.
This should get it off.
The main problem is the nut has Loctight 601 which my mechanic
friend says is the main problem. We have to get it hot to burn this
out.
