I will check the next time I am at my car.  That is, if I can see through

plastic mirror, but is there a piece of metal on the base of the

Or, is there a "patch" of non-glass material built into the windshield
where the mirror mounts? Or is the entire windshield plain glass
without any real way to tell where the mirror should mount?
