How tight is the belt on the alternator? Sounds like it could be loose. It
should deflect about 1 cm with moderate thumb pressure.

If the belt is tight, then it might be bad bearings in the alternator. If
that's the case, good thing you got the Motorola as you'll need it while
the D150 is replaced.
