RE: [DMCForum] Re: 400HP?

I have budgeted out the main items, not including miscellaneous, to be
in the $11,500 range.  It's pretty stupid to spend that much money to
make the car go faster, when I haven't even driven it faster that 75
MPH... but it seems to be a fun project so far.

Until someone with bottomless pockets comissions me to build one, I
really don't know. It's a big "it depends" question. 24v twin turbo? Or
12v single turbo? New parts or donor parts?  The latter is much easier
and cheaper but still well in the thousands. Steve's estimate of $10k
for a single turbo is not far off I reckon.

I am in the process of building two single turbo engines but it comes
down to money (mine!) as to when I can do it. I have a stock of 7
engines now, some for spares, some for turbo work. I have already
scratch-built a DeLorean engine from donor parts.

Renault 25 Turbo 2458cc
Citroen XM 24v 2975cc high compression
Renault Laguna 2963cc low compression
Renault Safrane 2975cc low compression (x2, also bought an entire car)
Volvo B280E
Volvo B28E
Volvo B28F (cannabalised!)

I think realistically the next project will be rebuilding my friend's
Island Twin turbo with internals from the 25 turbo , and add
intercoolers.
