RE: [DMCForum] Gas alternatives, then? (Martin)

We do have diesels here, but mostly in trucks.  They are also a lot more
expensive for the diesel option.  When I was looking to buy a new truck I
very much wanted the diesel, even more so as the cost of fuel was lower, but
it was $10,000 higher just for that option.

Soon after I purchased my current vehicle, the price of diesel fuel in my
area jumped higher than gasoline.  I would have had a much more expensive
vehicle which cost more to operate.

I would like to explore the bio-diesel option more though.  Since I travel
quite a bit I would be stuck with buying regular diesel unfortunately which,
again, drives my operating costs up.

I remember long ago you stating American V-8's sounded like diesel engines.
I wonder if you have ever heard one of the large diesel engines used in the
states?  I am just curious about the differences in perception.

LPG. Available nationwide in the UK for your car. Not suitable for
positively aspirated engines, but fine for everything else. I'm looking
into an LPG conversion for a DeLorean.

It's all stupid though, the best, most renewable source of motive energy
is bio-diesel, but you guys don't drive diesels.... bio-derv can be made
from any kind of vegetable or animal-sourced fat, including already used
oil and the by-product is glycerine. It's 100% bio-degradable, less
toxic than salt and will work in any diesel engine without
modifications. AND it does not contain sulphur, so no sulphur-dioxide
emissions means no acid rain
