RE: [DMCForum] Door lip seals & style differences

We did this on another owner's car.  If the notched area lines up with the
door light and the screw holes line up, I guess that's it.  I don't remember
if the drain holes lined up, but I think they did.  I also seem to remember
one piece would best fit one side, and was obviously not correct for the
other.

The little "V" notch formed with the rubber should be facing you when it is
installed.  In other words, you will be looking into the "V" standing next
to your open door.  On the original seals, this "V" was facing the car, but
I thought that was only on early VINs.

Can I be more vague? :)

Subject: [DMCForum] Door lip seals & style differences

Folks,

Apparently, there are two different styles of the "door lip seals"
(for lack of a better term; I'm talking about the seals that mount to
the bottom lip of the door). I have the early '81 style (stock, 24
years old in so-so condition) and have purchased the later '82 style
from PJ Grady. I can't figure out how to mount them, the holes don't
seem to line up. I'm of the understanding they should mount just fine,
but I have to reverse them somehow?

I hate to sound like an idiot, this is probably embarassingly obvious,
but I've flipped them and flopped them every way I know how and still
can't line things up. The best I can get is the screws & light slot to
line up, but then the drain ports don't line up. Is the 82 style
supposed to fit on the 81 cars?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

-Ryan
