RE: [DMCForum] John Lane's PRV

If I go the Porsche 930 intake/fuel route, and since I already have the
turbo setup and J&S spark controller, then basically all I need is to beef
the lower end (rods, pistons, 3.0 cylinders) and clean up some junkyard
Eagle heads and that Volvo B280 block... which I believe is doable for under
$5000 for me... but that's the lower end of the power scale.

I was sitting here just now figuring some higher end prices, and with the
trans upgrades, yes, it may push even up to $15k.  Probably won't have THAT
done by Pheasant Run for sure!

Planning to do it and starting to do it are two very different things, and I
know that.  I'd like to plan eveything out very thoroughly because I am
aware of the large costs involved, and don't want to get into it without
knowing how long it will take to do (i.e. $$$).

I think your option with the Chrysler is certainly more viable, practical &
economical.  I am more interested in seeing what the max is that I can
squeeze from a PRV.

I am very interested in this topic, because about 3
yrs ago I spent a good amount of time researching
performance options for the PRV.  Spoke to John Lane a
few times too, and found that he was probably the best
source for PRV information in the united states..

When it was all said an done, I found that while it
was possible to get a shit load of power out of the
PRV, even if I factor in that I already own an Island
turbo setup the cost was quickly approaching 10K just
for the engine...  Which is why I decided to go the
engine swap route.

I found that the cost per horse for PRV performance
was just way too high in comparison to conversion
options...  Did something change in 3 years?  Or is
there some important information I missed in my
research??  Let me know, because I can still cut my
losses on the conversion effort!!
