I was careful to not agree or disagree with the hate
crime laws.

For the most part, I consider myself "undecided".
Clearly, if you kill a person because they are Gay you
would be guilty of murder and I am not convinced that
the motivation of "hate" would make any difference in
your penalty.  As a society, we have agreed that it is
NOT ok to kill people.

For any "hate speech", Id probably error on the side
of Freedom of Speech as long as the speech did not
advocate violence...

I don't think I ever took sides on if these people who
were arrested were deserving of it.  The articles I
found were lacking information for me to make a
decision on it...  Either way, there WERE at that
particular location to harass gay people.

I was too busy watching the Monster Nation clip before
(thanks VB!) But watched it now.

This video clip is CLEARLY edited...  What is missing?
maybe some important conversations of confrontations?
I also notice that I can never clearly see what their
signs say.

Based on the articles I read earlier, it seemed to me
that this was a event for gay people, and the anti-gay
group showed up..  But from the video, it is unclear
what the purpose of the event is, but it is some kind
of street festive which the anti-gay group was trying
to disrupt.

However, the officer clearly told them to leave or
they would be arrested.  I don't know how they could
be any more clear on it..  When the anti-gay guy
complained about it, you can hear the officer say that
they can take it to court but they were doing what
they were told to do.

As I said before, it is not clear to me..  The video
frame looks to be cropped which is why it is so
grainy.  maybe VideoBob can take a look and confirm,
but the entire thing looks to have been manipulated.

Again not enough information for me to say it was hate
or not.   Clearly, this whole conversation started
from an article which was meant to be propaganda for a
religious (anti-gay) organization.
