[DMCForum] Re: Laughter

Hey Josh,

Yep - and I haven't been a teenager for a long, long time. My neighbor
(who has also been a close friend for more than 20 years) thought it
was hilarious. Laughed out loud. "A DeLorean? Why?" Others openly
mocked the idea and made Back to the Future jokes.

Then I bought the car and everyone changed. My neighbor: "Holy shit,
you weren't kidding! Wow... Can I drive it?" 5 months later he tells
me, "Every time you drive by, I can't help but do a double-take. The
car looks so exotic. Even though I know you have one, it still
surprises me." I get constant positive comments; the receptionists in
my building get people coming in asking about it, etc.

I can only guess they laughed because they didn't think I'd really buy
one, or that it was even possible. That's probably why they laugh at
you... They don't think you could ever afford one, or that you could
take care of one, or even find one for sale. Most people are pretty
clueless on the price & availability of these cars.

Once you own it and people see the amazing interest the car generates,
believe me, the laughter will stop.
