Joe, oooooh, I just love your Fredian slip there. ;-)

Mainly I think that the throttle pedal is too narrow.  I'm
thinking of buying some kind of aftermarket pedal to slip
over it or maybe making one of my own.  I might like to
lower the brake pedal by maybe 10mm.  Installing a cruise
control would make a big difference too whether shod or not.

I have since rediscovered Armor-flex water pipe insulation.
It's great for use on the aircon lines to protect it from
chafing.  I might try putting some around the pedal.  It has
peel & stick adhesive that would hold it on.  Since I have
been going barefoot so much, I've been putting waterpipe
insulation on furniture legs & such so that when I kick them
it doesn't hurt so bad.  This is because I am handicapped -- 
I am used to being able to kick things because I grew up
wearing shoes.  Now I have to watch where I am going.  I
don't mind.  It is safer anyway.  I just have to get used to
it -- if that is possible.
