[DMCForum] Re: Moderation

dmcforum
page (which is down)?

Because when I got the chick to write the software, we
thought it was a good idea.  Since then she quit and I have
no idea how to write HTML, let alone Cold Fusion.

I would love to, but... someone has already done it.  I
signed up a few weeks ago, posted a question and since
forgot the address.  Even if I found the address, I probably
won't remember my ID & password.  (But Yahoo isn't any
better with ID's & passwords.)  What I would like to see is
a web-based forum that works with Yahoo Groups.  Ideally it
would take every post from the Yahoo group, strip the spam
and enter it into the proper thread on the message board (if
that is possible and perhaps with a moderator's help if
necessary).  And conversely it would take every new post and
send a copy to the Yahoo group (that part should be easy to
do, but to do a good job it would have to half-way forge the
sender's address.)

Me too.  And somewhere along the way my ISP will start
bouncing e-mails for the hell of it.  Or regular spam will
soon overflow my 10mb capacity.  Since I'm on a dial-up
connection, I prefer to download all my e-mail and then read
it off line.  I can't do that with web-based forums.

sponsor to pay for webspace, but

Web space is not a problem.  We just need the software.  But
if we dumped the Yahoo Groups forum altogether then we might
as well all go to that DeLorean messaged board that is
already up & running.  Or would they want us?

reply to the message would go to a "Dmcforum" account, then
get sent
to everyone else?

The problem with dealing thru e-mail servers this way is
that they will think you are a spammer and delete it.  What
we need is the best of both worlds: Give members the option
of participating as a message board or as an e-mail account.
Technically Yahoo does this, but not very well and it is
full of spam.
