[DMCForum] Re: Unknown vin, I'm looking at this as a project car...

Thanks again for all the great info Walt.

Jim - Haven't bought yet, but I want to make sure I check out
everything.  After this weekend I'll have some more information for
everyone, probably tons of pics (with my POS 5.0MP camera next to
Walt's new camera)  Mine does accept lenses, but haven't a clue
which ones.

I think I'll be at the DCS in my Impala SS.  Little voice tells me
this D won't be running in time.  I'm very excited though.  More
excited about getting the SS.  (hope none of my club members see
this!)

I'm very well aware of the rule of $20k.  I bought a 1970 Chevelle
(first dream car) only to realize that is was possible for a car's
frame to be rusted through.  Sunk a bit of money into it just to be
able to sell it.

Initial cash outlay is my main focus.  I'm mostly concerned about a
solid frame, and secondly a good body.  Interior is easy stuff in my
eyes.  I'm not body or chassis tech.  As for the motor we'll see.  I
have a plan for a swap if this one's toast.  Two good V-6 ideas.
This will be a daily driver and keeper so I'll end up spending the
money, but hopefully more later than sooner.  I'm willing to
anything but tranny work at this point.  My learning curve is on my
SS (where parts are cheap in comparison) so if I can't do something
I'll get a pro to do it.  No webcam in the shop, but I'll document
the progress for sure.  It'll help someone else later no doubt.

-James
