[DMCForum] Re: Articles

Hate to be technical, but at turn of the decade there were *FOUR*
major US auto manufacturers.

Feisty independent in Kenosha Wisconsin:
-Pioneered mass production unit body construction and comprehensive
rust proofing
-Earned 1964 Motor Trend car of the year
-Outlasted ALL other independents (Avanti doesn't count)
-Successfully competed in early NASCAR and Trans Am circuits
-Produced four wheel drive sport utility wagon 15 years before Subaru
(and four wheel drive sedans and hatch backs)
-Produced first domestic subcompact, which was also lowest priced
American car 6 years in a row (and after 1973 carried longest domestic
new car warranty)
-Single hadedly saved Kaiser Jeep, which was on verge of bankruptcy in
1970
-*NEVER* went out of business itself (was purchased by Chrysler as an
ongoing concern)
-Utilized oldest continuously operating highway transportation factory
in the country (was producing Rambler brand bicycles in late 1800's)

If your DeLo doesn't give satisfaction, perhaps you should consider an
AMC...

coincidentally drove to work today!)
