[DMCForum] RE: [Decorum] DMCH Parts (WAS: digital speedo)

Walt,
All the distributors and vendors have their problems as you so beautifully
pointed out about Special T in one of your more recent post.( I thought
you
were a friend ) . But just remember, what goes around comes around. Once
you
become a vendor no matter how large or how small the negative points will
start coming out and that is what some people want to play on and not the
good. All anyone can do as a vendor or not is work on the problems and
try
to bring a positive light to a sometimes a difficult problem of sourcing
and
building parts at a reasonable cost.
There are also two sides to every story.
I don't spread gossip about people and their products to make myself look
better. If your not for sure about Houston, then why don't you get on the
phone and talk to Steve and you may find otherwise. If you don't then your
spreading unfounded gossip and that's not good for the vendor or yourself.
What's better would be to take a more productive roll in trying to bring
things together in a positive light instead of a negative one. That's
what
I try to do.
I have 30 automatic transmission filters coming from France that have been
so hard to get. That's 30 more than are in the world. There not cheap.
What
kind of profit should vendors make for the investment and inventory for a
year.
It' s easy to criticize others when your on the outside looking in. Get
into
it like me and others and you will see it's not easy.
My mother once told me if you can't say anything good then your better off
not saying anything at all.

This is just a theory of mine. I'm suspicious that Steve Wynne and
DMC/Texas are in business as a hobby. How else could they afford to buy
the
KAPAC inventory and have it shipped to Texas to a new state-of-the-art
warehouse/repair facility? If I had a few million sitting around, I
would
  do the same.

Yes, but not on all accounts. PJ Grady had already ran out of their
supply
of HCR replacement angle drive gears. I don't know the full story
behind
it, but I do know that for the past several months that angle drives
have
  been very hard to get.

I don't blame DMC/Texas for competing with the TankZilla. Many owners
never
could afford a fuel sender until DMC/Texas came out with an affordable
alternative. Both brands have their issues. If cost isn't a
consideration,
I tend to like the Zilla better AFTER some of the holes in it are
plugged
to
soften the fluctuations and AFTER the machining defects on top are
sealed
and AFTER the gasket is replaced with a material that will hold up
better.

But then they compete on seemingly unnecessary things like key blanks,
fuel
suction hoses and other items. The DMC/Texas blanks look most accurate
to
OEM but may not be as indestructible as the PJ Grady variety.

I'm in this has a hobby, too. So for the fun of it I try to patronize
all
the vendors. The more I talk with people, the more I hear of really
terrible experiences with all the vendors. They all have their fan
clubs
  and hate clubs.

  Walt
