Re: [DML] regraining

Yes that is true, Jake I forgot about that, using finer sandpaper! Is not the way to go.
My experience is removing the grain
As I degrain the D both ways
You have to go with the grain and use
A coarse pad, blending pad is a safe bet just takes longer. But is a safe bet

Don't use a grit that fine unless you want it to be as polished as John's!  For the factory finish, the 80, then 120, then blending pad works well.

There is an art to it that I don't really have.  Fortunately, there is a Chris Nicholson.

Start With 3M blending pad or you can use sandpaper electro oxide
220/400/600/800/1000/2000 then you should be fine.
I prefer the sandpaper, its faster just be careful because to much pressure can remove the grain although that will still take awhile so you would notice
I am actually removing my grain to have a mirror like finish.

But you can just go with grain only both wet and dry sand
Good luck its a loooong process but can be done cheaply
I've done two fenders and the t top and that's taken me about 60 hours, yes 60!
But just scratches should be a fraction on that
