Here is a video someone took of me at a Delorean Mid-Atlantic gathering several years ago.

 

As I state several times in the video, I am NOT any kind of expert, but it should help give you the basic idea

Start With 3M blending pad or you can use sandpaper electro oxide

220/400/600/800/1000/2000 then you should be fine.

I prefer the sandpaper, its faster just be careful because to much pressure can remove the grain although that will still take awhile so you would notice

I am actually removing my grain to have a mirror like finish.

 

But you can just go with grain only both wet and dry sand

Good luck its a loooong process but can be done cheaply

I've done two fenders and the t top and that's taken me about 60 hours, yes 60!

But just scratches should be a fraction on that
