I would much rather have to put up with BTTF comments than the cocaine jokes. If you put up with the cocaine jokes, how are you not able to with stand the BTTF comments.
I have been showing the car at least once a week for the past 2 years at cruise nights and the comments have been 99.9% positive. The most heard comment is "That's my favorite car!" My wife and I also take part in Christmas, St. Patrick's Day and the 4th of July parades. Again the comments are all favorable and have even heard "You made my Day!" for bringing the car. 
As to what the public thinks, it is up to us as we answer their questions, to set them straight. My car runs well and yes, I was towed once because the professional mechanics wouldn't listen to me as to what was wrong with the car.
