[DML] Re: Conversion question; was BTTF conversion vin 01305. :(

Okay, I have a few issues with this statement:

First of all, saying that "the DeLorean Motor Company is back in business and sells new cars." is spreading false information. The REAL DeLorean Motor Company went out of business in the 1980s and DMCH is NOT BUILDING NEW CARS! They rebuild an existing car and use the original title and VIN. Their "New Build" program is a source of misinformation to the public and a disservice to DeLorean owners.

Secondly, there are many DeLorean owners that DO NOT wish to have their car immediately connected to BTTF. "Exploited" is the right term, as BTTF exploited the DeLorean and now it's nearly impossible to get away from that. Those with a stock DeLorean can't avoid these comments and have done nothing to bring them upon ourselves. It's become an unfortunate side-effect to owning a DeLorean. BTTF is a plague on those who wish to own and appreciate the car on its own merits, not as the butt of some lame movie jokes.

I, for one, cannot wait until BTTF is a forgotten memory like so many other films and I can enjoy the DeLorean without some amateur comedian telling his idea of a witty joke.
