[DML] Re: R134 Freon @ $6.40 Per Can



All hoses, even new ones leak. The older they get the more they leak. And since on a Delorean you have so much hose, as they get old they leak a lot! Running -134 at higher pressures and hotter temperatures just hastens the process. The original hoses were never intended to last 30 years in any case. Newer "barrier type" hoses have an internal core that is more leakproof than the older type hoses. I agree that in replacing the hoses there is always the chance you can do collateral damage but when the hose does leak you have no choice. And the hoses WILL leak. I consider it PM just as you would change cooling system hoses and belts BEFORE they go bad. Anyone contemplating getting their "dead" A/C going should replace the hoses because that is probably why there is no refrigerant in the system!
