Because it takes things closer to a true wishbone than the formed outriggers I guess. It *would* be a brave move to go completely solid. But how many wishbones have you ever seen that are made in two parts which can flex against one another?

I agree with that Martin, but Ed's use of bushings on both ends of that custom rod (looks like a modified rear link), it may still have enough forward/aft movement to accommodate the arc of the ARB.  

Anyone know why Ed felt this solution was better than his own bolt-on "outriggers"?  (is that the official name?)
