RE: [DML] Low brake pedal

Dave & Tom,

When Tom picked up the seal kits from us I think I mentioned that until the
new seals settle in you can expect a lower pedal. That is because the seals
pull the pistons away from the rotor. The groove that they fit into is
angled and the seals need time to conform to the groove. When the cars were
brand new our owners ALL complained about low pedal feel. The complaints
faded after the first year but faithfully re-appear after caliper
rebuilding. You can minimize the problem with careful adjustment of the
booster pin but may have to readjust it looser after initial break-in or
overheat your brakes. BTW I always recommend replacing the master cylinder
when rebuilding calipers unless the master is less than five years old.

Subject: [DML] Low brake pedal

Tom and I just rebuilt the brake caliper on the electric DeLorean and they
car does stop much better. We found some of the pistons where frozen. The
pedal however seems to go half way down before any braking action starts. It
is
not spongy or soft at all. This does not seem normal. New master cylinder
time? Any ideas?

Thank you,

Dave Delman
