Re: [DML] It's just a car club, why the power trip? DMA MEMBERS READ!

As a past officer of the DMA, I can easily recap that we had an "unwritten rule" that people looking to find an owner and Rent/Use their car for display purposes was sent to the DMA members once detailed information was obtained about the request.

It saddens me that the officers would now abuse the "privilege" they have at having the information first hand, and selecting who can/can not show their cars in public?

My case in point, recently when Lauren had her car in the NY times, some people commented on the fact it was not well maintained. Based on that, should Lauren NEVER be able to show her car? What if she dumps $20K into it? Is she now "good enough" to show it, or will she always be banned?

"Best representing the marquee" are words I have heard on this topic. Please!!!!!
We all own cars in various states of condition. Its the word and actions of the owner that carry the Marquee. Anyone who owns and loves a Delorean should be able to have the chance to show it.

I have registered my car on several websites that cater to renting cars, and was fortunate enough to have VH1 and SPIN magazine rent my car for commercial use. I encourage DMA members (or any one else interested) to sign up on similar sites.

No updated meeting notes have been posted to DMA members, and a post I made on the topic was unanswered (much like Marc's). Perhaps I should shift my focus to DCS and leave local club membership behind? I put A LOT of time, energy, and love into the DMA, but it now greatly upsets me to see how members are likely to be treated.

I realize the content of this message is targeted to DeLorean Mid Atlantic members. However, I think it is a good topic for discussion for any DeLorean clubs. It seems there is a trend of people volunteering for leadership roles within the DeLorean community, and people who were previously close friends and people I respected have become MAD WITH POWER. We have seen this in the past with the DOA, as well as other regional clubs. The DMA is close to my heart because I played no small part in making it what it is today. I am afraid for what it may become.
