Re: [DML] DeLorean Thoughts (Marc Levy)

You and I obviously interpret pejorative comments about 8 track tapes
and rotary telephones differently.

I continue to be amazed that a simple fuel metering device (entirely
self contained) measuring some six inches square can send DML members
into paroxysms. I have been told, in capital letters and exclamation
points, that carburetion RUINS THE CAR!!!. Not to point out the
obvious, but a carbureted DeLorean *CAN* be converted right back to
K-Jet if an owner so desires. The only reason that such a
re-conversion won't be easy is because nothing about K-Jet is easy.
Removal of a carbureted intake manifold, with the carb still attached,
takes less than 3 minutes. That's it -- from that point forward you're
staring at a bare intake valley (carbureted owners can not call it a
"Valley of Death" anymore -- when you see right into the thing with
the manifold attached, and when you remove the manifold to work in
there in less than 3 minutes, death is removed from the equation).

Regarding DCS, the specter of judging at the door as cars are pushed
inside was raised again at DMA, and Ken hinted at it in Message
#75702. This *WAS* one reason so many cars remained outside at Pigeon
Forge. I know, because I stayed in the parking lot myself and talked
to those owners. Look at the Saturday pictures. They speak for
themselves -- more than two dozen DeLoreans basking in the sunshine. I
do appreciate all the work your team puts into DCS. But be advised: If
you mandate judging at the door, you could have a repeat of the Pigeon
Forge dichotomy.

Please contact me off List to discuss comments you yourself made to me
at DMA, some of which inspired Message #75731.
