[DML] Re: DMC Car Show Gettysburg

Ken's decision to allow cars indoors without being judged is extremely
recent (since Marc wrote Message #74068, updated Feb 1).

The terminology he uses is "display," not "parking" (the Eisenhower
doesn't have a parking deck or anything like that -- we're talking
about Saturday afternoon in the convention center).

At Pigeon Forge judging was absolutely mandatory. The judges stood at
the door and nailed each car as it was pushed in. I wasn't at DCS'06,
but I understand judging was mandatory there as well (I've also seen
outdoor pics from that show -- was a nascent non-judgement movement
building?).

I am more than willing to join everyone inside. I'm just not willing
to run a gauntlet of judges to get in there.

Received an eMail Saturday night informing me that DCS registration
has been changed to include a non-judged indoor option. That was not
an option when I registered last month (see Message #73747). I also
notice explanatory text has been added under the display field (I
think some new attendees were confusing it with turnstile admission).
If Ken posted notification of these changes I missed it. A new thread
apologizing -- and asking how to modify an existing registration to
include NON JUDGED indoor display -- has been started.

Some people seem to think that I am ashamed of my DeLorean, or that I
have a fragile ego that would be shattered by its scrutiny. Those who
know me know better. The car was never the issue -- mandatory judging
was. It simply was not a game I was willing to play.

Now that Ken has changed the rules, I will sign up.
