It is possible you have a cable length issue.  When
you hook the drill up, the plastic cap was not on..

Was the angle drive installed in the hub?  or just
hanging loose?

Maybe your angle drive is mounted slightly closer
(tighter) to the hub, making the cable stick out the
other end too far.

You could try making a spacer to put between the angle
drive and hub.
