[DML] Re: A society question...

The Delorean is one of a very few cars that are displayed with the
doors open. Many that do not know car show ettiquite take that as an
open ivitation to jump in. Children are taught manners by their
parents. If the parents show no respect for others the children learn
to do the same. IMHO it is no worse than ever. It mainly depends on
the venue. If it is open to the public, is free, and most have never
been to a car show, then you can expect people to believe that the
cars were placed there for their enjoyment and can then be touched. If
it is a car show and people pay to see the cars then you usually see
them respect the cars more. Rarely, but it does occur, you get someone
who is very well lubricated (self-medicated) and are completely
out-of-control (as if they had any to begin with!!!!!). They are the
worst to deal with. When I go and leave the doors open I always make
sure someone is watching the car. I also remove little things that
people may take as souvenirs like the cigarette lighter, keys, etc.
Lock it up in the "vault" behind the driver's seat. I also use a
battery master switch so no one can hit the horn or the lights. I also
put things on the seats to discourage visitors. I have an Einstein dog
and I put a BTTF model on the other seat. Dogs usually go crazy when
they see Einstein. I had one dog take it out of the car in it's mouth!
Some kids will also run up to it and hug it to death. The mother had
to get the kid to release it with a lot of coaxing!!!! As far as I am
concerned it is all fun. Fingerprints come off easily from the S/S.
Everyone HAS to touch it!!!!!!
