Yes they will.  If only 1 in 100 felt its ok to sit in your car without
permission, it won't take long until that happens. "Hey, take my
picture, look guys Doc Brown!".

 

Maybe 1 in 1000 will feel its okay to open your front trunk - insert
your own stupid justification for this here.

 

A sign, stantions, or a chain will all help most of these rare
transgressors remember their place.  Being there to tell them not too
eliminate nearly all of them.

 

It's not a matter of IF someone will do something without thinking, but
simply when.
