I suppose he is thinking the pulse coil has been replaced with a 'maybe, might work' part.  If the wire color is different than OEM, it could be a clue.

Dave, What am I missing. What does the color of the wire coming off the
ulse coil have to do with the way it runs ?? If you unplug the pulse coil
ire from the fire wall and check the resistance, and it reads about 580 to
20 ohms cold then it's all right.

I now have a new, used distributor, thanks to Dave T  and a brand new pulse 
oil wire.

 plan to first replace the bright green wire I have on  my existing 
istributor with a proper wire and see if that has any  effect.

f not I will be changing out the entire distributor  with the new wire.

hen if it works properly I may put my green wire on the new distributor  
ust to see which of the components is at fault.

oe anyone have a 'simple" method for gaining access to  the distributor 
ther than removing all the hoses on the fuel  distributor....

TW - Does anyone have a Bright Green pulse coil  wire in their car?
