[DML] DCS Vegas! Palace Station Info.

Yeah, DCS 09 is a ways off, but I wanted to take some time and get
everyone familiar with the Venue; Palace Station.

First off is their garage. We can have about 200 or so cars on the
roof, if no any given level. So you won't have far to go for the show!
Plus in case it rains (unlikely), we can just go down a level.

The top floor too BTW is lit quite brightly at night. So there will be
no trouble with taking night pictures. We'll also have a beautiful
view of the Las Vegas Strip hotels, and I-15 as well as part of the
Las Vegas Valley. We'll be 6 stories up. In case anyone is worried
about safety, there are fire extinguishers every 20 feet or so on each
pillar too.

Now as you know, there are two types of rooms available: Tower Rooms,
and Courtyard. And as a note, they are completing a full renovation of
the hotel as we speak.

Here are the Tower Rooms:
http://www.palacestation.com/hotel/tower/new.php

21 story tower. Nice rooms with all new amenities. Flat screen Plasma
TVs. All new furniture, carpet, etc.

And here are the Courtyard Rooms:
http://www.palacestation.com/hotel/courtyard/

This is the older section of the hotel, and is only 2 stories tall.
But the rooms are all new! 32" flat screen CRT TVs, all new furniture
as well. Now I got to stay in one of these brand new rooms. while it
does have the old fashioned A/C and floor plan that gives it that
older hotel room feeling, don't be fooled. These rooms are all new.
Our room did not have a tub, and only had a standing shower. But what
you can't see from the pictures is that from the entrance way, to the
bedroom, and into and covering all of the bathroom are brand-new stone
tiles everywhere. New sinks and plumbing fixtures, it all looks quite
nice. And no shortage of towels. This isn't some cut-rate motel 6. The
rooms were quite nice, and for the price I'd say were damn good. (we
paid $70 at the time, but DCS is getting these for $60).

Don't fret, both the Courtyard and Tower rooms have easy access to the
parking garage. You don't have to walk very far at all. They may be
two separate buildings, but there are both VERY close to the garage
and casino floors.

The advantage of course to the Tower rooms is that you'll be able to
see the roof of the parking garage. So if you're wanting to stay in
the Tower rooms for some choice shots of the car show, be sure and ask
to stay on the South Side of the tower that faces the parking garage
behind the tower.

Now there is a warning here for smokers. ALL, and I do mean ALL
Courtyard rooms are non-smoking! Some of the Tower rooms do allow
smoking upon request. So if you'd like a smoking room, you'll need to
indicate as such to the hotel. IF YOU SMOKE IN A NON-SMOKING ROOM, THE
HOTEL WILL CHARGE YOU A $250 CLEANING FEE!!! Does it really cost that
much to clean a room? I don't know. But they're hoping at least that's
a deterrent.

Now right next to the Parking Garage entrance is a Starbucks. So in
case anyone needs a coffee fix during the show, worry not. Fraps,
Lattes, and Teas are all near by.

Palace Station does have lots of dining and that sort, but in case
you're after strong drink, or just want a casual atmosphere to chat
the night away after the show, Palace Station does have the perfect
place: Jack Irish Pub.

They Close nightly @ 1AM, except on Friday and Saturday nights when
they are open 24/7 and don't close at all.

Well, that's it for right now about Palace Station. If I learn any
further facts that people would either like to know, or need to know,
I'll be posting them to keep everyone informed. Likewise if anyone has
any questions, send them it. There's still a few things to plan, and
there are a couple more venues out there that some might like. Ie.
Poly Esther's night club @ Stratosphere (they have an 80's themed room
with a DeLorean parked inside), as well as other venues and events to
plan. And if there's anything you'd like to see or do, don't be afraid!
