It's probably the battery! Once drained a battery must be charged 
back to full-charge which can take several hours with a good 
charger. A battery will not recharge itself. Your battery is 
probably fully discharged (maybe shot now but you should check it). 
Take it out (charging the battery in the D causes all kinds of fume 
problems in the fuse and relay compartment) and have it charged and 
tested.

For storage, a properly sized battery disconnect switch is the best 
device for saving the battery.
