Re: [DML] Why DeLorean?

Robert,

You speak from my heart. :) I have had these very words spoken to me by a
friend, "You should sell that DeLorean and get something more practical like
a Corvette." My answer was, of course, "To hell you preach." Corvettes do
have their place in society. They make our DeLoreans appear more refined
and distinctive. (flame, flame)

Some people see modifying the DeLorean as much a heresy as buying a Picasso
and painting bigger boobs on the women. "Hey, if you want bigger boobs then
find a painting that already has bigger boobs. Don't ruin a rare piece of
art." But for me it doesn't bother my conscience to turn my DeLorean into
what it should be. When someone asks me, "Does it go fast?" (I am asked
this a lot.) I don't want to explain that it doesn't. I have heard another
DeLorean owner who shall remain nameless (Randy) answer this question with,
"It will bury the needle in the speedometer." Well, at 85mph I should hope
so! Considering that I have avoided more accidents using the steering wheel
and gas pedal than I have using the horn & the brake pedal -- I want my car
as quick & nimble as possible. If that means a new frame, transmission &
engine, then fine. I enjoy it.
