Pretty much all modern cars across europe have a convex portion on the edge of
the driver''s side mirror [pause while I go outside and take a photo] - see
attached. Being in England, mine's a right hand drive car, but I KNOW the convex
mirrors are available for the LHD versions in france, for the left mirror. Note
how not all the mirror is convex. Sorry about the photo, but it's dark now!

I guess the fact that undertaking is legal in the US may have some bearing on
the side the convex mirror is used on.
