Wayne,

This is typical of the original window regulators. There are three common
failures, one of which is a cracked drive gear. When the gear cracks the
motor worm drive will jam and no longer move in either direction. Because of
the very high failure rate of this part installing the heavy duty
replacements from PJ Grady, DMC Houston, and DeLorean Services is the most
cost effective fix.

PS: In some rare cases this problem can be caused by a bad window switch. An
easy test is to exchange the two window switches and see if the problem
follows the switch.
