Re: [DML] Re:Put a fire-extinguisher in your car!

as a volunteer firefighter I feel obligated to tell you that the proper technique for exstinguishing a engine fire is only to raise the engine accees cover only as far as it takes to get the nozzle in.
1.becuase you want to smother the fire and you cannot of you have chemical spraying all over the place and two because the engines do run on gas if an explosion were to happen it will *hopefully* keep the flying metal from frepe your head.

i reccomend powder exstinguisher over C02, one because the Co2 takes a rather large cannister to be effective and two the powder is a retardent. It's a f'in mess but it is efficient for the smaller car sizes extinguishers.

hope that helps,
dr c.

One more thing - here in Norway you get cheaper insurance if you have a fire
extinguisher present in your classic car! And this of course is the case for
our beloved DeLorean! :)
