Yeah...hey Alex!  There should be four wires for the driver side door 
courtesy lights and the door buzzer...it sounds like one of your wires 
may be trapped up in the void that's under the left most kneepad back 
there.  That, or the wire was cut.

This was probably done because, 1. the door buzzer is annoying, and 2. 
sometime the door light plunger isn't properly depressed when the door 
shuts, and the lights stay on, wearing out the battery.  You can fix 
this by filing a small notch in your plunger switch, and then the lights 
will stay off unless you want them on.
