  Some garages still have the R12 gas that the Delorean uses.  It is banned now as it contains cfc gas that wrecks the ozone layer.  I had mine retrofitted to take the new style R134A Gas that all modern cars take.  Some say that it is not as cold as R12 and does not last aslong but I was using mine yesterday and it was bloody cold I can tell you!! (The more you use it the longer it lasts amazingly enough)
   
  Any garage that fills A/C can do this retrofitt as it only involves draining all the remaining R12 out of the system then refilling with R134A and some oil for the compressor and then adding two new quick connectors for future refills.  All this cost me £150 in Belfast which included a full leak test.
   
  If you want to be able to get the gas refilled anywhere and buy replacement DO IT YOURSELF kits from the like of Halfords then go with the retrofitt.  If you want the R12 then just ask the garage as they may have some lying about, but just remember that you will someday have to get the R134A as R12 will be unavailable in a few years when stocks run out.
