RE: [doc] Insurance for a 22 year old

It's strange how the postcode can mean you get robbed even more than you should by insurance companies.

I mean, insurance is always going to be a waste of money (unless you write your car off every year), but some places really do get the mickey taken out of them when in reality anyone could be the victim of car crime regardless of where they live.

As it happens my BMW isn't insured in my name but I won't go into the details of it. Let's just say that my Dad is a claims manager so I've done it in the cheapest way possible.

Thomas mentioned around £6000. Bear in mind that?s N.Ireland. My friend
(25 years old) in mainland UK is currently insured on a 2002 BMW 530D sport
for around £600-£700 I think fully comp. As a matter of interest I then
priced his car with his details (all exactly the same as he had on his
policy) with the ONLY change being the address.

Any guesses??????????????

Living in N.Ireland he was then being quoted somewhere around £2000. I cant
remember the exact figures cos it was a few months ago but it was at least
double the price and then some.

As another point, his sister had just passed her test and got a new car. He
managed to reduce her premium by a few hundred pounds just by adding himself
as a NAMED driver on HER policy.

Go Figure!

Having seen the quotes being mentioned on here I have to say that that is
exactly why I'm not even going to attempt to get my hands on a DeLorean
until I'm 25 (another 3 years on top of the 15 I've already waited is
nothing!).

I am in the same boat in terms of being a comparitive youngster and real
long term DeLorean fan that loves them to bits, but I think realism has to
come into this somwhere along the line because otherwise someone's going to
be haemorrhaging money just so that they can do something that they could do
aged 25 for a lot less.

This is basically why I drive a BMW at the moment and not a DeLorean,
because I know that I needn't excite myself until I'm blowing out 25 candles
on the cake.

I'm keeping confidential at the moment - Suffice to say that
