The springs are notorious for thumping and banging for no apparent 
reason esp if you have fitted lowered ones (not the springs fault, just 
pot lunk on the position they're installed in, in a rotational sense!). 
I've known one broken front spring, and it's the only one Chrispy has 
ever seen as well. Disclaimer applies :-)

You have a fairly low vin number and later cars have a shorter cable. 
Strictly IMO the "upgraded" bracket is a waste of time. I bought one and 
it snapped about 2000 miles later. I've used two zip-ties onto the brake 
hard line right next to it (not tightly, just to prevent the cable from 
flexing at the "shoulder") and never had any issues since. That hard 
line is only short and very tough as it's held squarely at both ends.
