I was watching the Garage on discovery last week and they were testing the injectors of an old Jaguar by putting a long screwdriver onto the injector, and putting their ear on the handle of the screwdriver, and listening to the injector to see if it was working.

This is a common trick on EFI injectors because they make a ticking
noise., Ours spray continuously and it has never worked for me :-) I
prefer to get them out and have a look.

You can try soaking it in Acetone. Do the injectors too, but take the
seals off first. Ditto the O-ring under the metering head.

The easiest thing to do is leave it for a day or two before taking it off.
